πŸ‘€ Black Friday preview + kitten updates 😻

Published 6 months agoΒ β€’Β 3 min read

Hi Reader!

I have LOTS of updates for you (scroll down for a peek at my one-week special Black Friday sale coming your way soon + something just for the San Francisco Bay Area peeps!).

But first, kitten cuteness:

Five months ago that guy up there ☝️ fit in the palm of one hand. Now he's terrorizing my handbags and making a general mess of the entire house. And we adore him. I'd forgotten how heartwarming having a kitten around can be. (I shepherded the last of my 16-year fur family over the rainbow bridge this summer.)

In other household news, for those of you following my fridge-delivery saga, we finally got our new refrigerator delivered... on the fourth try. I am SUPER glad to finally have a modern fridge that doesn't rattle, beep randomly, and suck a ton of power. Aaah... the freedom of space inside my fridge! 😻 (BB also thinks it's his playground and keeps trying to get inside.)

Info about the special book signing happening in the SF Bay Area this weekend is BELOW πŸ‘‡ the shiny announcement.

But first, let's talk about the thing that I am super duper can't-hold-it-in excited about.

⏳ I'm preparing some exclusive 1-day specials for Black Friday.

I almost never do sales. You'll usually only get a discount offer the first time you see a product or after buying a different one.

But this Black Friday week, I'm bringing back a very special, frequently requested training + some discounts that will make you happy if you missed out on something else you really wanted.

Here's a teaser:

  • πŸš€ That mega masterclass workshop I only do for private groups (or, rarely, as a paid live event)? Yours on demand. For a full year.
  • πŸ”₯ A brand new workshop I have never before offered as a course. (If you've seen this one, it's only because you booked me for a private live workshop.) And it's all about line editing!
  • 🎁 A crazy-good bundle deal that only comes around once a year. And it's just for fiction writers!
  • πŸ™Œ And a second chance to grab my newest training without having to buy into a summit. (Hint: it involves the fun kind of math!)

I know sometimes the timing is just not right and you miss out on things you wish you'd done. (πŸ˜… Me too!) So I'm bringing out some super special deals for you this Black Friday week.

πŸ’

You're probably gonna get a ton of emails that week, and I'd hate for you to miss out! So join the waitlist and add the dates to your calendar! If you purchase any of the Black Friday Week deals after joining the waitlist*, I'll send you a special bonus as a thank you.

Check your email this Friday to learn more about that bonus and the lineup of deals headed your way!

Do you live near San Francisco? (Special dual-author event!)

Before I transitioned to full-time book coaching and teaching, I was a developmental editor for indie romance writers.

Gail Carriger's recently released Tinkered Starsong trilogy is one of my favorite (as a reader and as an editor), and this is her first in-person event in a long while. She rarely does them anymore, and this one looks to be super fun.

When: Saturday, November 11 @ 7pm PT

Where: Books Inc in Mountain View, CA

Cost: FREE

Here's what she said in her newsletter, The Chirrup:

The two of us promise to put on a GREAT show.

However, I probably won’t have any of my new releases with me or for sale, so you should bring your copies if you want them signed.

I'm not (yet!) familiar with David's work, but I'm looking forward to meeting him.

I'm not personally involved with this event, but I am planning to be there. So if you're in the area and you want to hang out (and also meet the fabulous Miss Carriger plus support an indie bookstore), the deets are here.

This Friday...

I'll check back in this Friday with a preview of exactly what I'm offering each day of the Black Friday Week 1-day sales and pass along some NaNoWriMo advice from an author who is practically a pro at it.

See you then!

Hi Reader! I am a big Ansel Adams fan. πŸ“· There is something about the way he captured emotion in his photographs that just ✨ lights me up. But only some of his images evoke that gut-clenching, tear-inducing feeling of rapture in me. πŸ€” And I wonder why that is? Even though I know he was a skilled photographer, why aren't I affected by all of his images? (Never heard of Ansel Adams? Check out some of his work here.) Sometimes the story we're trying to tell is not the one that comes out on...

Hi Reader! Have you ever run from a dinosaur? No? Well, if you're curious, it looks like this... (Yes, that really is me flailing away from a T-Rex.) As creatives, we can find inspiration anywhere, and thinking back on my family trip to Hawaii made me realize that I'm real damn good at empowering my own worst fears. Looking at that video now is fun. I think about how well it turned out, how comical my arm-waving looks. But then I remember my mindset in the moment, when the tour guide told us...

Cover of A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

Hi Reader! Have you ever read a book you just cannot stop thinking about? Well that's me right now with A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. Let's take a moment here to chat about a little quirk of mine that gets me into so much trouble. I am STUBBORN. You can pretty much rely on me to do the opposite of what: someone tells me to do, someone thinks I should do, or everyone else is obsessing over. For the most part, I'm pretty happy with the way this works out for me. πŸ€·β™€οΈ But...
